My son enjoyed having the freedom of moving in the pool without being carried. He had no prior swimming lessons and is 2/12 years old. He did need some time to get used to leaning forward but the vest kept his head upwards. I would still recommend that you stay near your child for overall safety.
Pro: Instructions to use was simple and it is easy to clean.
Con: May not fit well for toddlers that are on the smaller size. My son is about 23 lbs. even though it says it is for 22-66 lbs toddlers.
